HOW TO GEREFERENCE AND WORK WITH CATALOGUE IN Arcmap 10.4 SOFTWARE
Geo-Referencing
Ø Left click on Customize tool on the menu bar and scroll down and
click on Geo referencing.
Ø Left clicked on Add control point from Geo referencing menu bar.
Ø Moved the cursor to the point where the GPS Reading was picked
from the field, On the Map to be projected.
Ø Entered the XY Value, making it P1.
Ø Repeated the same process for 3 other points, P2, P3, and P4.

Working with catalogue
Ø Move your cursor to Windows and scroll down to catalog and left
click.
Ø The catalog will open by right clicking on the catalogue tool.

Ø Create a new folder.
Ø Right click on the new folder, scroll down to new and created a
file geo-database.
Ø Right click on the file Geo-database that was created and scrolled
down to new and Left clicked on feature class.
Ø It will then display an interphase where The Name and Alias of the
layer are Created.
Ø Select the type of features stored in this feature class which
include polygon features, line features, point features, multipoint feature,
dimension features and annotation features. One feature will be selected per
layer. For example;
o
Polygon can be used for buildup area, boundary of a place,
vegetation cover etc.
o
Line features can be used for roads, rivers, railway line etc.
o
Point features can be used on buildings, towns, Headquarters.
